American Apparel...Make It Stop.

You know that feeling you get when you go to your friend's house for dinner, and they lecture you about the importance of local produce? Yeah...and they talk about how global economies are destroying local independence, and are actually changing the production and consumption of food? And then they tell you about their new project, to grow and harvest their own fruits and vegetables? Then, an hour later, after scolding you for buying your produce at a chain supermarket, they bring out a platter of misshapen, half rotten, worm-infested food, and say "Here, now eat this. See? Isn't this so much better than all of that imported, chemically enhanced, genetically modified trash that you buy in your supermarkets? We grew this food in our very own yard. Taste the difference." Well, that's the feeling I get when I see American Apparel.

Match 'em up, ladies & gentlemen.

Want to show everyone that you know exactly what you are doing, when it comes to dressing yourself? Well, that's easy. Just match your tights and shoes or trousers and shoes. Done! This trend isn't new (not by a long shot), but it appears to be hanging on, well into next year. In addition to the classic black on black, though, you can also mix it up. Red on red, buck on buck, charcoal on charcoal, chartreuse on chartreuse, hell...whatever you want. Do it.

Copy the Kooples

Speaking of cleaning it up....here's a source of eternal, manly cleanliness. I promise you, if you are wearing these clothes, you could be growing a mammoth-sized beard on your face, and you would still look like a million bucks. (Oh, and just so you don't rip your beard off, from absolute shock, I feel that I should warn you; this is all really expensive. I'm not even going to bother posting the prices.) You can check it out at www.thekooples.com

Pastels for Dudes

Guys, I'm being 100% serious when I say this, I promise: You should wear pastels. Remember when we told you that pastels were big this season, for women? Well, we live in a era of equality, so.... (See Acne, Spring 2012)

Okay, so technically, these are not all pastels. You catch my drift, though. These are the 2012 equivalent to male pastels.

Street style

A fine example of great mens street style, using basic, neutral colors and textures, teamed with a pop of colour to make the look so much more than average. His accessories are great. His hair is styled to perfection. All in all, awesome!

The Daily Awesome

Image taken from sartoriallyinclined.blogspot.com

Our first menswear Daily Awesome. Yes, this may be an out-take from the Fall/Winter 2011 Ovadia & Son's collection and you guys may already be gearing up for Spring. However, it's frickin' freezing out and if you're in the U.S or UK, it's probably snowing right this second. So, what better time to showcase a fantastic winter look(with fur stole)?

Shop the shop

Here, I highlight a brand that I personally think is cool, current and accessible. Today, I'm focusing on the French Brand A.P.C. Although they are based in France, they now have stores in London and NYC and they now also have an online store. The prices are a little higher than J.Crew prices but the quality is good and at least you know that not every fashion conscious guy in town will be wearing it.
Here are just a few pieces that I think are pretty great.Check out usonline.apc.fr/ for all styles and pricing information.

They currently have a sale on. They're offering 30%-50% off many styles. So, shop the line whilst they still have the best styles in stock.

Best Dressed Men, Golden Globes 2012

It's rather tough for an actor to really stand out at this kind of award show, as it's very much black tie. However, there were a few risk takers at last nights event and here the pics to prove it...
Idris Elba won for the Mini Series Luther, looking very stylish in this daring ensemble including silver studded shoes. Awesome!
Bradley Cooper wearing a classic tux but with 'sharp' cut. Tres chic! However, he may need to ease off the fake tan. It's a little much. (image taken from justjared.com)
Matt LeBlanc was the surprise of the night, for me. He looked awesome in this navy tux. I applaud the bold colour choice.

MAN DAY MONDAY!

Time to introduce some man stuff. I'll dedicate Mondays to men's fashion and style. You may see some men's stuff crop up on other days and you may see women's fashion crop up on Man Monday but we should at least set a side one day for the blokes, shouldn't we? How better to kick off Man Monday's than with the man of the day, Martin Luther King. It is MLK day, afterall.

Although it's probably proper to discuss his great work for the Black community, that changed America forever; you all know the story and the speech. Let's keep this light! This is just a fashion blog, afterall. I just want to highlight the fact that Martin Luther King had some pretty great style too. You know what they say, the clothes maketh the man...

Tuck & Roll

Let's talk denim, and the tucking and the rolling. First, let's get this out on the table; tucking jeans into boots, for men, was over in about 2009.  However, the recent introduction of military boots to H&M's collection has seen the unwelcome return of the boot-tuck.  Oh, and the muslim wanted me to quote him on this; "Just because H&M is doing something does not mean that it's right. Actually, it usually means it's wrong (see Versace collection, for H&M)." So, if you're going to do it at all, please make sure that you are doing it right.
