The Daily Awesome
Rachael Weisz, at the new Bourne premiere. All I need to say is....yes. Okay, if I'm honest, the shoes are a little weird, but who's looking at the shoes? Hollywood, this is how you do it....just like Rachael Weisz. You look beautiful, then you disappear for a while, then you come back looking beautiful, then you disappear for a while, then you come back looking beautiful.

American Apparel...Make It Stop.
You know that feeling you get when you go to your friend's house for dinner, and they lecture you about the importance of local produce? Yeah...and they talk about how global economies are destroying local independence, and are actually changing the production and consumption of food? And then they tell you about their new project, to grow and harvest their own fruits and vegetables? Then, an hour later, after scolding you for buying your produce at a chain supermarket, they bring out a platter of misshapen, half rotten, worm-infested food, and say "Here, now eat this. See? Isn't this so much better than all of that imported, chemically enhanced, genetically modified trash that you buy in your supermarkets? We grew this food in our very own yard. Taste the difference." Well, that's the feeling I get when I see American Apparel.

Mullets. Oh mullets, mullets, mullets.
Ladies, I've got to admit it...I have always struggled with the mullet skirt trend. I understand, though, that it is personal preference. So if you are going to rock the mullet, be sure that you are rocking it right. The mullet skirt, which is a party in the front and business in the rear (do you see what I did there?), is hard to pull off. I've noticed that the people who have successfully merged party and business have been people who've kept it super simple. The skirt is statement enough. Simple shoes, simple accessories, and easy hair. That's the ticket. You know what I mean? Here are some examples: (one hour later) Okay, actually, you know what? I have been surfing the web for nearly an hour, and have found no examples that I will let pass. I just can't do it any more.

The Peplum Problem
Ladies, get a peplum! I'm being serious. They are getting harder and harder to find. Their popularity has gone epidemic. When you find a good one, GET IT! But first, I think we should talk about good peplum and blah peplum. I don't mean to be picky, but if you're going to get the peplum, get the one that actually does what it's meant to....cinch you in and give you some bombshell hips. First, it's got to flare out...and I mean FLARE OUT. Second, the fabric has got to be rigid, so that it holds its shape. Third, the upper portion MUST be fitted. We're talking multiple darts and ruffly hems. Loose fitting, jersey peplums aren't quite cutting it. Examples? Of course!

Man Day Monday: Shop the shop accessories
This week's Man Day Monday Accessories' Spotlight is Urban Outfitters. Here's the thing with Urban Outfitters; They've often got a few decent things, but you have to be careful that you aren't being a hipster douchebag about it. Here's the secret to not being an Urban Outfitters hipster douchebag; only buy things that are what they appear to be. If the item has more than one use, then don't buy it. If the tote turns inside out, to become a "We are the 99%" protest sign, then it's a douchebag bag. If the ring has a can opener on the bottom of it, then it's a douchbag ring. If the hat doubles as a puppy watering bowl, then it's a douchebag hat. So, there you have it.

Shop the Shop: Jcrew
This week, it's all about down-town. Going to the office? Well, then, look sharp! When deciding what to wear, the words "only" and "office" should never be used in the same sentence! As in..."Oh,I can just wear these flared stretch slacks and clogs. I'm only going to the office." Again, that's a NO! Yes, you have to look "business", but there is an enormous difference between "business" and "I mean business."

Do it right, people.
This segment of "Do it right, people" is dedicated to the 1990's. We all know that they are back...but please, DO IT RIGHT! The 90's were just awful, but if you give them a modern twist, then we will be alright. Some examples:
The Cut-Out

Good
The Bikini/Jacket

The Plaid Schoolgirl

The Floral Dress

Now did you notice that none of the "good" looks are actually vintage 90's? That's a good thing. If you've got any of your old clothes from the 90's, and you are wondering if you can wear them again, the answer is a definitive no. If you are going to do the 90's thing, I suggest that you get some new, 90's inspired gear.
