The Daily (or, lately, the "whenever the eff I want") Awesome.

What?! These shoes were an absolute punch, square in the face, in the best way imaginable. Go without food for 5 months so that you can afford these things. I'm not joking. I don't care. Get them.....get them now.

Good Marks

Ladies, I want you to go and look in a mirror, right now. Search your face. Find that mole! Yes, it's the one that you've been trying to cover up for the past 2 decades. It's time to let it breathe again! Beauty marks are back with a vengeance. If you happen to be one of those ladies with flawless skin, then I'm afraid you're going to have to sit this one out. Shhhhh shhhhh. I know. It's okay. Perfect skin will come back into style, I promise.

Or I guess you can just paste one on, like Chanel does. Okay, perfect skin, looks like you're back in the game.

Purple. You know....as in The Color.

Purple...the new Tangerine? Probably. And I'm sure there's a fancy name for this particular shade of purple. It's probably something like Dusty Plum, Midnight Bruise, or something super fancy, like Moramorado. Well, whatever the hell it is, it's hot. Get it!

Mullets. Oh mullets, mullets, mullets.

Ladies, I've got to admit it...I have always struggled with the mullet skirt trend. I understand, though, that it is personal preference. So if you are going to rock the mullet, be sure that you are rocking it right. The mullet skirt, which is a party in the front and business in the rear (do you see what I did there?), is hard to pull off. I've noticed that the people who have successfully merged party and business have been people who've kept it super simple. The skirt is statement enough. Simple shoes, simple accessories, and easy hair. That's the ticket. You know what I mean? Here are some examples:  (one hour later) Okay, actually, you know what? I have been surfing the web for nearly an hour, and have found no examples that I will let pass. I just can't do it any more.

Match 'em up, ladies & gentlemen.

Want to show everyone that you know exactly what you are doing, when it comes to dressing yourself? Well, that's easy. Just match your tights and shoes or trousers and shoes. Done! This trend isn't new (not by a long shot), but it appears to be hanging on, well into next year. In addition to the classic black on black, though, you can also mix it up. Red on red, buck on buck, charcoal on charcoal, chartreuse on chartreuse, hell...whatever you want. Do it.

Black and Unblack

For fall, here's a good suggestion, from Barbara Casasola: Pretend that you are color blocking, with two or three colors. Then, take the brightest color, cut it out, and replace it with the darkest black that you can find. And voila! You're current! And the look is ultra hot. (Disclaimer: I know that this is nothing new, and that it's been happening forever. But hey, a classic never dies. Oh, and I also know that image #4 is technically just black and white. Oh, and I also know that image #5 isn't technically black at all. But you tell me how I could have done a post about Barbara Casasola's fall 2012, and not have included those images.)

The Peplum Problem

Ladies, get a peplum! I'm being serious. They are getting harder and harder to find. Their popularity has gone epidemic. When you find a good one, GET IT! But first, I think we should talk about good peplum and blah peplum. I don't mean to be picky, but if you're going to get the peplum, get the one that actually does what it's meant to....cinch you in and give you some bombshell hips. First, it's got to flare out...and I mean FLARE OUT. Second, the fabric has got to be rigid, so that it holds its shape. Third, the upper portion MUST be fitted. We're talking multiple darts and ruffly hems. Loose fitting, jersey peplums aren't quite cutting it. Examples? Of course!

Spring Brides, take note!

Bridal week just finished, in New York. As always, Vera Wang stole the show. An interesting side note.....none of her gowns were white (or even close). Every last one is red. We're talking about RED red. I have to say, I am more than 100% sold on this. By the way, there is nothing wrong with a red wedding dress. Just ask the muslim.

You'd give up your shirts to get your hands on these skins!

Okay, I know that it's not accessories day, here on Mormon/Muslim, but I thought you might want to see these skinned beauties! Tom Ford's outdone himself.

Metal....no moshing required. Actually, please, no moshing.

Zara. A staple in any fashion lover's diet. Love the new accessories. Metal is totally in....but not heavy metal. Just add a touch. If it's heavy, moody metal that you want, then go to Hot Topic. I'm sure they have some steel-studded platform combat boots, with multiple buckles.

Do it right, people.

This segment of "Do it right, people" is dedicated to the 1990's. We all know that they are back...but please, DO IT RIGHT! The 90's were just awful, but if you give them a modern twist, then we will be alright. Some examples:

Good

The Bikini/Jacket

The Floral Dress

Good

Now did you notice that none of the "good" looks are actually vintage 90's? That's a good thing. If you've got any of your old clothes from the 90's, and you are wondering if you can wear them again, the answer is a definitive no. If you are going to do the 90's thing, I suggest that you get some new, 90's inspired gear.

Go for Baroque.

Baroque and medallion prints are HUGE right now. I can promise you, 100%, that you will look back on this trend in 10 years, and call it totally tacky. It's true...the prints, in theory, are pretty ridiculous. But aesthetically, they are on-point and bang-on trend. Just give in. You'll look super cool for at least a year. But oh what a year it will be!
